What to include
- The command you ran and the full error message.
- Your operating system and the output of
lockbox whoami. - A share or request id from
lockbox status, if it's about one.
Never send us a secret, a full link, or the part of a link after #. We don't need them to help, and we will never ask.
Report a security issue
Email security@lockbox.run. Please give us time to fix it before you share details publicly. We'll reply to tell you we got it.
Common fixes
I lost my device (or all of them)
If you still have another device, log in on the new one and approve it from the old one with lockbox devices approve <id>. If you lost them all, run this on the new device:
lockbox devices recoverIt becomes active after 72 hours. We email you so you can cancel it if it wasn't you. Shares locked to your old devices may need to be sent again.
"The link is damaged" or "cut off"
Part of the link went missing, often the part after #. Copy the whole link again. If that doesn't work, ask the sender to share it again.
"Used up" or "expired"
The link reached its open limit or its time limit. That's by design, and we can't bring it back. Ask the sender to share it again.
My devices changed, and a sender's CLI stopped
When your devices change, people who shared with you before are asked to confirm. Tell them it was you, so they can continue with --accept-new-keys.
The login code never arrived
Check spam, and make sure the email address is spelled right. Codes expire quickly, so run lockbox login you@example.com again for a fresh one.
